On December 11th, our research group will host a session entitled “PLANTsynergy: Social, economic and political impact of AgriFood Biotech projects” at the Aula de Graus of the Faculty of Biology (University of Barcelona). The event will present several projects developed within the group, with the aim of contextualizing how our AgriFood-related studies and projects contribute to society, the economy and public policy.
The session will begin at 13:00 with an introduction by Prof. Sergi Munné-Bosch, Principal Investigator of PLANTsynergy. A series of short presentations will follow, each highlighting a project carried out by the group. Topics include research at the frontier between basic and applied science, vertical farming and knowledge transfer, sustainable product development and circular bioeconomy, patent opportunities and limitations, completing all technology readiness levels, and the influence of marketing and mechanisms of action within biotech companies. The event will conclude with a roundtable discussion from 14:30 to 15:00, providing an open space for questions, debate and exchange among researchers, innovation specialists and attendees.
By sharing and contextualizing these projects, the initiative aims to underscore how our work in plant science and AgriFood biotechnology contributes to societal challenges and emerging bioeconomic strategies.
We warmly invite all interested participants to join us and look forward to welcoming you there!
